The False Light Of New Age Christianity
This post is not intended to be fear-mongering or condemn anyone. Some of these views are ones I previously held myself until corrected. They are shared to raise awareness and help out others.
🤍 May the Lord be with you. 🤍
Due to the shame-based and dogmatic structure of organized religion, many people shy away from traditional Christianity in favor of alternative spirituality. However, for a lot of spiritually-inclined people, the light and life of Jesus still appeals to them. So they are drawn to other interpretations of Christ, ones which seem softer and more inclusive.
These individuals tend to view him as an ascended master who attained a high level of enlightenment as opposed to God in the flesh. He is portrayed as extremely gentle, loving, and sweet-natured.
Unlike traditionalists, they also believe he had a feminine counterpart, Mary Magdalene, who was his spiritual wife.
It is not uncommon for them to venerate saints such as Mother Mary and Saint Germain as well as archangels.
They are frequently drawn to those who channel Christ or may even claim to channel Christ himself.
They tend to interpret Jesus’s teachings through the lens of getting us in touch with our own godhood (i.e. Christ Consciousness).
In certain circles, those drawn to Jesus place heavy emphasis on ancient, esoteric “mystery school” teachings, with the goal being to operate from the same frequency Christ did.
I believe God is all-loving and merciful and it is our own darkness that creates distance between us and Him, so I agree that “God is Love” (although I understand that even this belief gets distorted). But the kind of “Christianity” pervasive in the New Age/spiritual community is ultimately not of the light.
The main issues with New Age Christianity:
The most glaring one which I already mentioned: Jesus is not seen as God but as an ascended master or highly enlightened being. This is why saints, angels, or other beings are revered alongside Jesus. Hence, he is not seen as the highest authority.
When not submitted to Jesus as Lord, “New Age Jesus” and company (i.e. saints and archangels) frequently act as masquerading spirits. These are unclean spirits that pretend to be of the light (“angel of light” spirits). While these communities may seem incredibly ethereal and heart-based, demonic forces may be running the show behind-the-scenes. I know this can sound scary, fear-mongering, and like religious superstition, but since many people have been tormented and harmed by these spirits, I think it is important to take heed to this fact.
Only the “love and light” parts of Scripture are embraced. The parts about developing righteousness are overlooked and negated. Many people reject Christianity due to “religious guilt.” Indeed, religious guilt can be toxic and shame-based, but true sanctification is not about condemnation but about setting aside our sins so that we can actually become closer to God. In other words, God is not out to judge and punish you as a “dirty sinner.” It is our sins that prevent us from experiencing intimacy with the God who always loves us.
The potential dangers of negative spiritual doorways are ignored or minimized. While I do think traditional Christians often “throw the baby out with the bathwater” when it comes to alternative spiritual beliefs and practices, New Age Christians tends to throw all caution to the wind. The general view is that everything is pretty much okay and that believing in danger is living in fear. However, they don’t recognize this is the other extreme.
I believe New Age Christianity is particularly dangerous because we are totally distorting Jesus (as an ascended master), Scripture (as another sacred text that is about spiritual awakening), and other core tenets of Christianity. It is not just different doctrine which may be flawed. It undermines the very foundation of Christianity and serves the lower self instead.
You might wonder, “What if I don’t gravitate towards traditional Christianity but still want to explore Christianity and develop a relationship with Jesus/God?”
You don’t have to demonize alternative spirituality altogether, which I think is a fear-based reaction. For example, some Christians even have an aversion to the word “aura” because they think it’s “New Age” without realizing these terms relate to technical aspects of our reality.
However, I feel it’s best to avoid New Age Christianity, especially anything that comes from channeled material.
I may be wrong, but I have a personal hunch that more unclean spirits may try to come through “Christian” portals sometimes because Jesus is the true light. The kingdom of darkness would want to target those who seek Jesus because he is Lord, so masquerading spirits pretend to be Him. Even though they ultimately cannot subvert His authority, what they are trying to do is get you to form a partnership with them instead of Him.
So go the direct route instead of ones that are too off the beaten path. Don’t underestimate these forces. I am not saying people who buy into NA Christianity are bad people—most of them are probably well-intended and wish to uplift humanity. But there is a marked naïveté among them, which prevents them from understanding that they are being deceived by dark forces pretending to be of the light.
Again, I know it can sound like fear-mongering and religious superstition, which I don’t care for myself. I understand that some people may interpret me as a dogmatic Christian, but I feel it incumbent on me to share it in this way to convey the seriousness of what is going on. People don’t get tricked because they are weak or dumb but because these forces are highly deceptive.
Many innocent people are being harmed and we don’t know about the casualties in this spiritual war because we don’t understand what is going on in the spiritual realms, which is a fight for your soul. Yet the oppression and/or interference people come under from New Age Christianity is happening every day all across the globe.
So while you don’t want to live in paranoia, it helps to be selective of what you intermingle your faith with.
Let us be led by the Lord in innocence.
