Daily Habit Recommendations

Here are some positive habits that I recommend practicing on a daily basis or as much as possible:

  1. Meditation - Self-observation, self-inquiry, and contemplation - These practices are helpful to have discipline over the mind as well as understand yourself better. Also, you can “feel your feelings” and release them through a body scan meditation. Guided meditations also work.

  2. Prayer - Your prayer practice will be unique to you, but it will help you nurture a relationship with God/The Divine.

  3. Journaling practice - This is helpful when you have too much going on mentally and emotionally or need to process through different issues. Gratitude journaling is also a valuable practice.

  4. Study - You can study anything that helps enhance your personal growth, including a daily devotional reading.

  5. Daily overview practice - I recommend having a digital log where you write down what you did every day. Create a document/file for every week and jot down what you did. This helps you stay accountable and use your time more wisely.

  6. Movement - Aim for at least 30 minutes a day, even if it’s only walking or stretching. Do movement that suits your specific needs and concerns.

  7. Clean eating - This can be quite challenging and requires some planning, so I just say try to eat as clean as possible. Consider looking into intermittent fasting (IF), which is said to be beneficial for many people.

  8. Purpose-related work - Do something that relates to your contribution to humanity. We need to take breaks every now and then, but whether it is enhancing your knowledge or sharing your gift with others somehow, this produces a greater sense of meaning and satisfaction in your life and the lives of others.

  9. Spending time with loved ones and/or positive people - Whether a partner, family member, friend, therapist, or support group, it is a good idea to carve out time to spend with other individuals who make you feel seen and connected.
